When I first thought about starting a company in the USA, it seemed really scary and complicated. But guess what? It wasn’t as bad as I thought! Here’s how I did it, and why you can do it too.
The First Steps: It’s Not So Hard
Thinking about all the rules, papers, and things to remember can be scary. But starting a US company is actually pretty easy to understand.
- Picking the Right Kind of Company: There are different kinds of companies. I chose an LLC because it’s simple and protects my money.
- Choosing a State: You can start a company in any US state. I picked Wyoming because it’s easy and cheap to run a business there.
- Picking a Name: My company needed a cool name. I checked to make sure no one else was using it.
Online Magic Makes It Easy
I was amazed at how much you can do online! There are websites that help you step-by-step.
- Do It Yourself Online: You can fill out all the papers and send them online without mailing anything.
- Easy Signatures: I signed everything online, which was super convenient.
- Helpful People: There were people online to help me with questions.
Papers? No Problem!
I thought dealing with papers would be a nightmare, but it was okay.
- Simple Paperwork: The main paper, called Articles of Organization, was easy to fill out.
- Someone to Receive Mail: I needed someone to get important mail for my company. There are services for that.
- Company Rules (Optional): You can write rules for your company, but there are lots of examples online to help.
Keeping It Going
Running a company means following some rules, but it’s not too hard.
- Yearly Check-In: Every year, you tell the state a little about your company. Online reminders help.
- No Big Meetings: Unlike other kinds of companies, I don’t have to have big meetings or write lots of notes.
- Getting Help: There are people who can help with the rules and taxes.
Technology is Your Friend
Computers made everything much easier.
- Online Tools: I used online tools to keep track of everything and have meetings.
- Online Banking: I opened a bank account online for my company.
- Digital Signatures: Signing papers online saved time.
